Works on Paper
"Abstract art uses a visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world."
"We push and pull apart the world, and then layer it with emotions in order to put it back together as something different and

Cheryl is known to incorporate gravity into her works, eliminating the manipulation of the hand with brush or palette knife when creating drops, drips or lines. Pouring paint down the surface in a Jackson Pollack style, Cheryl manipulates the ground in order to direct her lines, allowing gravity to take over. Her mix of dense or opaque paint and fluid gesture creates a harmonious whole.

Works in Progress
Cheryl's signature style combines the sculptural with the painterly. In this romantic abstract landscape inspired by Hawaii, she plays with spatial perception and intersecting rays of color that fuses like rainbows in the mist.
The world is drawn to the works of this contemporary artist, Cheryl Johnson who embraces and challenges life as we know it.
