Abstract artist Cheryl Johnson loves the process and  works numerous layers of paint onto canvas or paper in order to create emotional, innovative and impactful pieces.

Johnson’s paintings explore color and the contrasts between the deliberate and spontaneous. Her medium of choice is oil, however in her mixed medium pieces, she is able to produce varying degrees of opacity and subtle color shifts in her work. She often uses a palette knife, which allows her to layer the paint, until it has created the desired color, texture and effect.
